Dashcam Audio Captures Sounds of CPR in Action

Last April, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Devers scrambled from his vehicle and climbed into the cab of a tractor trailer overturned on the side of a busy highway. Assessing the situation, he immediately began CPR on the driver, who was suffering cardiac arrest.

It’s not often that CPR is caught “live,” but this mesmerizing audio feed from a dashboard camera and Devers’ body microphone captures Devers counting compression out loud to keep pace and imploring the driver, “Don’t you die! Don’t you die on me.”

We are thrilled to report that Devers successfully resuscitated the driver, who made a full recovery after being transported to a local hospital. CPR is a powerful, lifesaving tool, and we are proud that you help us train more than 2.5 million people annually.
