Important Information Regarding Video DVD Playback Issues

Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Pro do not come with DVD movie playback capability. If you're running Windows 8.1 or Windows 8.1 Pro, you can search for a DVD player app in the Windows Store.

If you have Windows 8.1 Pro, you can also buy the Windows 8.1 Media Center Pack that includes DVD playback. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dvd-playback-help

You also have the option to install a third-party DVD player. There are several options available, many of them free, and most are capable of opening almost any audio or visual file format.

Note that you can still use data DVDs with Windows 8. This only applies to video DVDs.
