Unconscious Choking Revision - First Aid/CPR/AED
The American Red Cross has revised the unconscious choking protocol and language throughout its First Aid/CPR/AED classroom materials based on recommendations from the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council.
No update process is required for this revision, however, instructors should review the "Instructor Bulletin: Unconscious Choking Revision" on the First Aid/CPR/AED Classroom page for complete details about this change and incorporate it into future classes as quickly as possible.
In support of this revision, new digital versions of the following materials are now available on Instructor's Corner:
Instructor's Manual (IM)
Participant's Manual (PM)
Pediatric Ready Reference (Note: The Adult Ready Reference was revised Fall, 2013)
Course Presentation
Conscious Choking Poster
There are also digital options for updating your current print IMs and PMs. For more information on the revised digital and print materials available to incorporate this change into your classroom instruction, please review "Instructor Bulletin: Unconscious Choking Revision" on the First Aid/CPR/AED Classroom page.
